Creation in Christmas #1 is a probing search for eternal elements found in the Creation Story, that bring profound meaning to our Christmas celebration. [Gen. 1: 1-3] It is 1) A Reality Check to realize that our society elevates this season to a frenzy level of attention and devotion… often not even given to the Almighty. Cultural tradition has merged Scripture with legend and fable so that the true meaning of Advent is often unrecognizable. 2) A Tricky Detail. Because the creation was perfect in every way, there is no call for the “Christ Mass” (a Catholic term from the 12th century meaning “Christ’s re-enactment of Crucifixion). Upon SIN entering through man’s disobedience, now is the need for God’s intervention [John 3:16]. God’s creation gives us 3) The Element of VOICE. (This is the 1st of 3 elements that Pastor Steve will share through Dec. 21st.). Voice, and God’s Word, are shown to be active in the Creation texts of Gen 1: 1-3 (“and God said”) and John 1:1-5 (“In the beginning was the Word…”) Likewise, the Christmas story brings the “announcement” (God’s voice) of Messiah’s birth to Mary, to Joseph, and to the shepherds. Let your voice be used as a vital part of celebration and proclaiming Christ’s coming. Sing, Declare, Testify!
