Love, Joy, Peace...

The M&M Enigma  presents a living lesson to all of us.  M&M are Mary and Martha, and their story is summarized in Luke 10: 38-42, and more is given in John 11 and John 12: 1-3.  Essentially, Martha was a “doer” and Mary was a “soaker”, the former very busy and “encumbered about with many things”.  But Jesus commended Mary that she had chosen “that good part”, of sitting at Jesus feet.  In the month of April, we wish to be still, seek, and listen to the Holy Spirit, a “Mary trait”.  Our society has groomed us to be chasing many things, and seeking the Lord must be an intentional exercise.  Now to be fair, Martha’s part of serving is always needed and appreciated.  There are tasks and callings for ministry that fit our character, and we need to develop them.  So BOTH the M&M illustration are important, and BOTH M&M were there for Jesus.  Our search for the Pastoral Calling is of course a very critical pursuit.  Thus we are intentionally taking time to sit at Jesus ‘ feet seeking to hear His words.  But the calling of God on a new pastor’s heart is just as important as the calling of God on each person’s heart presently within the church body.  To find our place, and to fulfill our calling (both M&M) is the lesson of Paul in Eph. 4: 16.
