Love, Joy, Peace...

Parables, Proverbs, and Enigmas1) Wisdom speaks in Prov. 1: 20-33, but are you prepared to heed what she says?  While wisdom’s words are readily available, many people (simple ones) scorn her, and then receive the calamity, terror, and destruction that follows.  God Himself is the source of all wisdom, and He is the all-wise God. [1 Tim. 1: 17]  2) Wisdom Is Not Mocked.  [Gal. 6: 7-8]  She works by God’s sowing/reaping principle, and calls for our diligent obedience.  God is not our vending machine or our sugar daddy.  Wisdom is similar to Jesus’ parables in the New Testament.  The 3) Purpose Of Parables is revealed in Mark 4: 1-12, when Jesus told the parable of the sower.  Many people hear with “dumb ears”, that is, they hear but do not heed.  Jesus’ strategy in parables requires that the hearer also be a seeker, to learn the lesson, then also to obey!  Thus, hearing God’s word is a test!  Jesus interpreted this parable to the disciples, because they asked, and they hungered to know and grow.  As we gather weekly, we must hunger, yearn, and seek.  Then we will also find.
